Taker Intensity Overview- 24h Long Intensity Heat Map

**Taker Intensity** (TI) is a standardized value that measures the difference between two market orders (long - short) over a specified period in the perpetual futures market. This metric captures the predominant trading direction of perps market participants during that period. When more traders are actively bullish on the token (long > short), the TI value will be greater than 0. Conversely, when more traders are actively bearish on the token (short > long), the TI value will be less than 0.

Taker Intensity data allows users to select the time range for the statistics (from 1 hour to 7 days) and provides an overview of token TI rankings. In the Taker Intensity overview, tokens are ranked from top left to bottom right based on the TI value. Larger squares represent higher Taker Intensity, indicating a higher volume of long or short trades in the market. The color of the squares represents the strength of the token's price change.

How to Use Taker Intensity Data? 🤠

Taker Intensity data directly presents a summary of the overall trading decisions executed by traders. Market orders are the most commonly used trading method among traders, and they are often used by retail traders. Retail traders typically use market orders to trade: they place market buy orders while feel bullish, and use market sell orders in the opposite. From the other side, market makers, institutions, or professional traders also use market orders to execute complex trading strategies, such as TWAP & VWAP strategies, event-driven strategies, and CTA quantitative strategies.

💡 When the ideal price or the goal is to execute the trade immediately, market orders are the best choice. That is, if a trader is highly bullish on the market, they will choose to use market buy orders; conversely, if bearish, they will choose market sell orders. The aggregated information of market orders in the Taker Intensity best reflects the current sentiment of market participants towards a token’s price trend. There are two aspects to interpret Taker Intensity: one is the direction in which traders are actively trading, and the other is whether traders' positions are being liquidated.

Users can learn which tokens have more traders going long or short from the Taker Intensity Overview, also can upgrade to the Pro Plan to view Taker Intensity data history.

Using BTC on the 1h time frame as an example (above), it is clear from several points of strong Taker Intensity how it relates to BTC's price. For instance, areas with higher long intensity (market buy orders > market sell orders) often happened when BTC price at short-term peak, as marked by the red circles. This could indicate retail traders chasing the price or large-scale liquidation of short positions (short liquidated = market buy orders). Conversely, in the blue circles, higher short intensity (market sell orders > market buy orders) typically appears at price lows.

Based on the above explanation and data principles, Taker Intensity can be effectively combined with other Blave data for more detailed data analysis. For example, it can be used alongside Holder Concentration and Whale Hunter to understand the perspectives of whales and retail traders on the market, or combined with the Liquidation Map to determine if many traders are being liquidated due to adverse market conditions.

Additionally, it is important to understand that Taker Intensity only reflects the picture of current trading strategies executed by traders and does not serve as a meaningful trend indicator or trading suggestion. The performance of Taker Intensity for each cryptocurrency is also influenced by the market participant profile and the fundamental of the token (token economics, market makers, etc.). For example, the relationship between Taker Intensity and price for ETH has stronger correlation than for FLOKI or ACE.
